Porlock

Porlock is a charming village in Exmoor National Park. With some buildings dating back to the 12th and 15th century Porlock has a medieval charm. Nestling at the foot of Porlock Hill at the western end of the Vale, Porlock is bounded to the north by its shingle ridge with breathtaking views

Villages and towns

The Porlock Visitor centre is only a couple of minutes walk from Seapoint and has a variety of information on local towns, villages and attractions.

Minehead

Minehead is the main town of the area and has a variety of attractions.

Watchet

Watchet is an ancient harbour town nestled between Exmoor National Park and the Quantocks in the South West of England. The Quantocks was the first designated area of outstanding national beauty in England over 50 years ago. Watchet is a lively town with a lovely esplanade overlooking the marina.

Dunster

Dunster is an idyllic medieval village. The jewel in the crown of Exmoor National Park. Dunster has a wealth of heritage and history from the National Trust's 11th century Dunster castle to the Old Yarn Market in the middle of the high street.

Exmoor and West SomersetView across the bay

Exmoor has so much to offer whatever you like doing. We are surrounded on three sides by Exmoor, and the sea on the other side. We are right on the edge of Somerset, only a few miles from the Devon border in the ideal location to explore West Somerset or Devon. West Somerset itself has much of offer to occupy you during your holidays. You'll be kept busy with plenty to do and see on and around Exmoor National Park. Porlock has one of the best visitor centres on the moor with plenty of leaflets ideas, and most importantly, local knowledge.

  • Take a trip to a National Trust property including Dunster Castle , Holnicote Estate with the 360 views from Dunkery Beacon, Selworthy, Luccombe, Knight Hayes Court , Fyne Court , Killerton or Arlington Court
  • Explore the museums of the area including the Watchet Boat, And Market Museums, Lynton and Lynmouth with special focus on the flood disaster of the 1950's, Bakelite museum, Somerset Military Museum and many more.
  • Enjoy the busy calendar of Arts and crafts, food and music events throughout the year.

Physical & Adventure ActivitiesPlenty of lovely walks!

  • Walking, Mountain Biking and riding guides can be obtained at the nearby Porlock visitor centre. Hire horses in Horner.
  • The South West Coastal Path passes through Porlock.
  • Enjoy the busy calendar of Arts and crafts, food and music events throughout the year.

  • Take an Exmoor Safari and discover herds of Wild red deer and Exmoor ponies.
  • Try your hand at falconry at Exmoor Animal Farm.
